Review: Shattered Dreams (Midnight Dragonfly #1) by Ellie James

Standard

Shattered Dreams is a really great read, set in New Orleans after the destruction of Katrina. It is a seriously intense, on the edge of your seat read and I loved every minute of it. The characters are really well developed, the plot is fast paced and furious. It had me turning on an extra light here or there when I was reading it at night. The only reason it lost a star for me was because there were a few things that happened that seemed like they would be important to the story, and they were while reading it, but continuing the story they were just dropped. Hopefully they will be picked up again in the next book, Broken Illusions.
All in all, I loved the story and I can’t wait to dive right into the next story to see what happens with Trinity and how she handles everything that has happened to her. How her relationship with Chase goes (or not!!). DO we see any more of Dylan? (Yay!!) How Trinity’s friendships with the people from Shattered Dreams turn out?
I would recommend Shattered Dreams to anybody really. It is a great read for young adults. There isn’t a whole lot of language, barely any. No overly sexual situations. I think the older lovers of YA like myself will enjoy it as well. Don’t let the cover fool you into thinking its a book for the young ones.
